Thirsk by bus – November 2024
Plan your journey to Thirsk by bus
There are bus services from the North (No. 70 & 153 Northallerton), West (No. 70 Ripon) and South (No. 30 & 30X York).
Roadworks are currently delaying the number 70 bus, but you can find its current position on bus operator Hodgson's tracking map at
https://bustimes.org/operators/hodgsons/map.
From Monday to Friday it is not possible to travel to Thirsk directly by bus from the East – from Sutton Bank, Helmsley, Pickering.or Scarborough. For those you need to change buses in York or Easingwold.
On Sundays and Bank Holidays bus services are absent or much reduced so please check in advance of travel.
However, on Sundays and Bank Holidays from Sun 30 Jun 2024 until Sun 27 Oct 2024 the M5 Moorsbus will connect Stockton, Stokesley, Northallerton, Thirsk, Coxwold and Helmsley. See the full Moorsbus timetable at moorsbus.org, or the M5 timetable below, for Sunday services to and from Thirsk.
For almost all bus services there is a £2 bus fare cap until 30 Oct 2023, and £2.50 after that date until 30 Nov 2024. No single fare is above £2 - lower fares exist and free concession passes are valid.
